SHILOH BILINGUAL SEVENTH-DAY ADVENTIST CHURCH

A Brief History

Several years ago, there existed a dangerous trend in the Franco-Haitian community of great quantities of young people leaving the church. This mass exodus was attributed to the Youth being attracted to the warmer and more radical forms of praise found in English-speaking or American churches.

In order to proactively deal with the situation, and keep that flock, the Franco-Haitian department of the Greater New York Conference, headed by Pastor Louis B. Métellus, decided to create a place of worship for all those young people. It would serve as a haven where they could feel comfortable giving God praise as they saw fit.

Shiloh was born as that church where the Youth could grow spiritually and minister within their community. Now, they would be able to take active part and hold leadership positions in the church body. The inaugural Divine Worship service took place Sabbath, December 4, 1999. Though there have been growing pains, as with any new mission, the church has maintained a steady pace, gaining its place in History for being the first solution to a long-standing problem in the community. Shiloh has become well known for favorite exalting moments, such as the musical Praise Session, just before the Day’s message, when the Holy Spirit fills the room so fully that you can almost touch it, and the always-poignant Positive Message, when “future ministers” bless the congregation with the Word. The results have exceeded even the greatest of expectations.

In Spring 2007, Pastor Andy Lee Lagredelle, a founding member and former Head Deacon of Shiloh Bilingual, returned to lead the flock and continue with God's plan.

Whenever you are in Brooklyn, New York, stop by and experience it for yourself. You will be able to testify to the amazing effects of young people, humbly kneeling at the feet of Jesus, constantly looking up in adoration and praise.
